Halloween has passed and now is the time to turn our attention to Thanksgiving. The dinner menu may be the most important part of Thanksgiving, but what will you eat in the morning to hold you over until dinner? Valerie Bertinelli’s Baked Pumpkin Donuts are the perfect treat to keep your stomach from growling while you prepare the biggest meal of the year.
“It can’t be fall without a little pumpkin fun!” Bertinelli’s October Instagram post reads. “My ‘Baked Pumpkin Donuts’ are the perfect family treat for a cozy movie night!”
The recipe calls for fairly standard wet and dry ingredients (you know, flour, sugar, salt, etc.) and it also calls for mashed pumpkin, which Valerie made sure to note, isn’t not the same as pumpkin pie filling. “There is a difference,” Bertinelli said. “Pumpkin puree is just pumpkin,” while pumpkin pie filling already contains custard and spices.
You will also need at least one donut-shaped baking dish like this one from amazonalthough Bertinelli uses three molds to bake all of its donuts at once.
Once all your ingredients are mixed, you will fill the molds with batter and bake as you would a traditional cake. receipts — they are cooked when a wooden toothpick comes out clean (about 15 minutes).
For extra sweetness, you can mix a little cinnamon and sugar to create a coating. Brush some melted butter over the warm donuts, then sprinkle or dip the donuts in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat.
