Cynthia L. Herzog March 30, 2022 5 min read

The best venues, photographers and cake designers were celebrated at the Welsh Wedding Awards 2022.

Now in its fourth year, the awards recognize outstanding wedding vendors who go above and beyond to ensure “every wedding is unique”.

The awards were presented at a ceremony at Portland House in Cardiff.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Wedding Awards 2022 said: “The winners represent the industry benchmark that works tirelessly to meet the demands of couples and their guests.

“The awards showcase some of the finest wedding specialists operating in the industry, whose excellence and commitment have brought them to the forefront of the industry.

“These champions are proven specialists who know how to create a stress-free wedding experience, keeping the romance in the air. We would like to congratulate all of the finalists and winners for their incredible accomplishments.

Flintshire photographer Stacey Oliver, 44, from Sealand, was “delighted” to win first place in the Creative Photographer of the Year category.

Stacey, owner of Stacey Oliver Photography, was shortlisted alongside six other photography professionals from across Wales.

Stacey, who is a mother of two, said: “It’s been such a difficult two years in the industry for everyone involved. It was a time when it took all of my creative skills to keep my spirits up, support the couples I got involved with, and secure the future of my business.

“So to be top in the Creative Wedding Photographer of the Year category was very special and a very personal accolade for all the hard work I’ve put in over the past two years.

“It’s been a fantastic boost for me, especially when you’re competing against so many other fantastic photographers from all over Wales. It feels like a very special achievement and I can’t thank my family, friends and all the lovely couples I’ve worked with during the pandemic for supporting me to get to this high point in my career.”

The nominees for the awards are on the shortlist after being voted on by former couples. The final winners are then judged by a panel of experts.

Stacey added: “What’s important to me is that it shows the couples I’ve worked with are thrilled with the photos I took for them of one of the most important days of their lives. The fact that they made the effort to vote for me to make sure I had a chance means a lot.

The owners and staff of Tyn Dwr Hall in Llangollen said they were “delighted” to have received the award for Best Wedding Venue of the Year in the North.
