Something about summer leads us to visualize certain foods and beverages. Theme parks like to play in these ideas. Universal Orlando is no exception. Of course, Universal Orlando is part of a larger corporation. With Jurassic World Dominion hitting theaters a few days ago, themed food is coming on schedule. Of course, in this case, it’s arrived in the summer movie-themed Tribute Store. Fair warning, this week I cheated a bit on my three suggestions. Also, all three suggestions are from the Universal Studios Florida park. No love for Islands of Adventure or CityWalk this week.
First, let’s explore another “Welcome Back Summer” menu item. The “Latin Fork Bowl” is sold at the Battery Park near Mel’s Drive-In. This culinary creation combines several things that Universal Orlando’s food and beverage service does well. This bowl costs $13.99. In the bowl, guests enjoy a combination of “Papa Rellena”, crispy mojo yucca (drizzled), rice and beans. The combination of flavors in this bowl provides another quality non-traditional theme park option. We expect this item to be available until August. For the record, the Papa Rellena (seasoned meat and fried potatoes in savory goodness) is said to taste a bit better than the one sold at Natural Selections in the Jurassic Park area at Islands of Adventure. This bowl works as a good sized portion, especially with rice and beans.
Now onto Jurassic Park/World, which brings us to the Tribute Store for two Jurassic World-themed treats to round out my top three. Both items appeared last year in the Jurassic World Summer Tribute Store. Jurassic World Dig Jar Cakes continue Universal Orlando’s trend of cakes in a collectible container. This pot works like a predecessor to the Jaws Fishbowl Cake. This Jurassic version is $12 and still comes with a collector’s jar.
Additionally, the Jurassic World Smore Bar has returned for this summer’s Tribute Store. Smore bars also continue as something Universal Food and Beverage does well. This treat is still $4.50. At this price, it’s a solid, cost-effective treat.
If you want more classic cinematic treats, next week should involve a favorite classic time travel movie. Until then, thanks for reading. As always, eat your way!
