
When Sinless Sweets owner Maggy Pickner was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome in 2021 and turned to a gluten- and dairy-free lifestyle, she knew she’d have to find a new way to enjoy. her favorite desserts.
She and one of her sisters, who is also gluten- and dairy-free, started brainstorming with recipes.
“We both have sweet tooths and it was hard to find anything we could have,” said Maggy Pickner.
After coming up with recipes and sharing them with her family, Pickner was encouraged to start her own business. She posted about her “Sinless Sweets” on Facebook and sparked immediate interest.

Now, Sinless Sweets is getting a showcase at The Bridges at 57th in Sioux Falls. Having a display case will allow Pickner to take larger orders, as she has been limited by the small kitchen in her apartment.
The 20-year-old has spent her entire life baking, often with her aunt and one of her other sisters, Logan Gran, who owns a cookie decorating business. Another of their aunts also owns a bakery.
“(Pastry) is a family affair,” Pickner said.
However, mastering her “sinless” creations took a lot of effort, she said, and it took some time to adjust to the alternative ingredients.
“Sinless” in this case doesn’t mean sugar-free, but it does cater to those who are vegan and/or gluten-free, whether for health reasons or to be more environmentally conscious.

“There’s a lot of work to be done to make gluten-free and vegan products,” she said. “Being able to share these recipes I have with other people is super important.”
Pickner said there aren’t many places that offer both vegan and gluten-free treats, so she wants her business to be a place where people’s dietary needs are met and anticipated.
Pickner is also expanding his bakery business into a bistro, which will have indoor and patio seating. It will still sell baked goods and custom cakes, but the new menu will include hot dishes as well as take-out salads and sandwiches.
“I’m hoping for a relaxing place where people can come for lunch or dinner and relax,” Pickner said.
She said the business will also serve coffee and offer free Wi-Fi to people who want to work at the bistro.

“It makes me happy to help people out and give everyone a treat, regardless of their dietary restrictions,” she said.
Pickner plans to open the store by mid-August, but she doesn’t have an exact date yet. For now, customers can continue to order through it. website Where Facebook page.
