I love to get bargains and was in my element when I went to Guildford this week. On a day off, I like to shop in stores, especially charity shops.
In the town center there are a number of charity shops dotted along the high street and I popped my head into each one. From Oxfam and the British Heart Foundation, to Cancer Research and Phyllis Tuckwell, one store in particular stood out from the crowd.
Located just up town near G Live is Oxfam, and it’s a gold mine for designer clothes. I was in a frenzy when I discovered the dozens of bargains on the rails and brought an armful of items into the locker room praying they would come home.

French Connection, Hollister, Converse and Superdry were some of the brands I found and guess what, the clothes fit me. Perfect for summer, I picked up denim shorts, a blouse, a dress, a light cardigan and a sports top. I also bought some handbags.
My best finds were Hollister denim shorts for just over £5 and a beautiful navy dress from the same brand for under £10. They both went straight into my suitcase when I got home.
Don’t be confused with the Oxfam bookshop a minute’s walk from the store, as you won’t find any clothes there. I’m an advocate for recycling, sustainable fashion and I support good causes wherever I can, so I don’t feel embarrassed to walk into a charity shop.
Surrey’s wealthier towns have amazing charity shops and Guildford is certainly one of them.
