Layers of sponge cake, mousse and various other fillings, entremets are synonymous with versatility. Part of French pastry, this delicacy is a favorite among bakers, and now foodies too. Ahead of Valentine’s Day, Delhi-NCR home bakers explain why demand for these has increased.
“The entremets is the dessert par excellence for all occasions. Flavors made with Belgian chocolate are selling very well, because chocolate has always been associated with love. It is associated with different flavor profiles, such as liquor, berries, vanilla, etc. The cakes are decorated with heart-shaped mousse or French sable hearts,” says Nehmat Munjal, a baker based in Gurugram.
They come in different shapes and sizes, making it easy to mold their appearance to your preference. “The Entremets are trendy thanks to their elegant and unique design. The heart-shaped ones are very popular,” says Shikha Sachdev, a Delhi-based baker, confirming that they are flying off the shelf. To this, Divya Saxena, a baker based in Gurugram, adds: “Desserts offer a chic alternative for people who want to try something other than cream and fondant cakes.”
The exquisite amalgamation of flavors and stunning visual appeal explain the entremets’ popularity, believes Vatsala Arora, another Gurugram-based baker who prepares this French dessert for V-Day. “Old-school classics have their own charm, but realistic cakes for kids will always be popular. What’s so special about entremets, you ask? Layers of decadent cake, jelly , mousse, praline, sometimes cheese and a refreshing combination of flavors elevate them from simple to sublime.
