Although some find it hard to believe, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is over five years old. With a vast open world, players have encountered many people, places, and things during their adventures as Link in the kingdom of Hyrule. Among the races of breath of the wild that players can encounter is Koroks.
Although there is no shortage of races in breath of the wild, the Koroks are distinguished by their unique design; they have a wooden appearance and wear masks over their faces. Throughout the game, players can search for Koroks, 900 of which can be found, and collect Korok Seeds from them to use to upgrade Link’s inventory when traded with Hestu. Recently, a fan made an impressive but edible creation in honor of this small breed of the Zelda series.
Taking to Reddit, a user known as Sunsetgodzilla shared a photo of a cake he had recently created. However, this was no ordinary cake. Instead, the baker had decided to design a dessert to look like a scene from breath of the wild. Impressively, the cake featured a Korok holding a two-leaf glider above what looked like a tree stump. Additionally, there were a number of detailed mushrooms included in the design.
Along with showing off the cake in an image, Sunsetgodzilla revealed more details about the project in the comments section. According to the Reddit user, they had decided to bake the cake for their boyfriend on his birthday. Moreover, they revealed that it took about six hours to prepare and it is a lemon and elderflower flavored cake. Additionally, they noted that the filling was lemon curd, while they made the frosting with buttercream and elderflower liqueur. To finish the cake, melted dark chocolate was used to make what they called “bark”, and pistachios and lemon zest were added for a bit of mousse.
Unsurprisingly, many members of the Zelda The community on Reddit was impressed with the level of detail seen in Sunsetgodzilla’s cake. In less than a day, the post has already garnered over 900 upvotes. Among the comments, several users were impressed with how much time Sunsetgodzilla was willing to put into baking the cake for their boyfriend. Additionally, some pointed out that the mushrooms made the design even better. Sunsetgodzilla agreed, revealing that “mushrooms were fun to make”.
It will be interesting to see what other creations talented fans like Sunsetgodzilla make as they continue to wait for the release of Breath of the Wild 2 Next year. Besides this Korok tree stump cake, Reddit is full of artwork based on the Zelda series. For example, a player recently made a Deku mask from Majora’s Mask paper mache and cardboard. Whatever fans come up with next, one thing is for sure; it might be impressive.
