Canteen with pastry cream
By the incredibly talented team also behind Bam Bam Bakehouse, Canteen with pastry cream is the newest of the bunch, serving absolutely top-notch Portuguese custard tarts, almond croissant tarts, the gooest cookies and various breakfast and lunch items. Find them down Talle Creek and good luck floating gracefully once you’ve sampled a few (thousands).

Although it’s a slightly fancier version of a good old-fashioned bakery, it’s still a place where the goods are baked and some of the most amazing produce you’ve ever tasted. Now with two convenient locations, Pastry Emporium create magical, almost otherworldly cakes and desserts while baking a croissant you’d probably die for. They also do the breads and coffees and if you move there, we won’t judge you. Please invite us.

Bam Bam Bakery
Mermaid’s needs no introduction Bam Bam Bakery – the makers of the most original pastries the Gold Coast has ever seen and the absolute love of our lives if we’re being honest. Known for creations such as Gaytime Eclairs and Ink Gin Choux Bomb, it’s another level of baked goodness magic and everything tastes more delicious than you might imagine.

Hidden in the middle of a small garden oasis lies Paddock Bakery, a Miami cafe and garden paradise, also offers insane baked goods. How about a Milo Milkshake donut? Yah. Wagon Wheel donuts are also a thing and Nutella robot babies are the real deal. The donut selection changes all the time, but there’s always something available to blow your dessert-loving spirit. And your other minds.

A Nobby’s institution, Fosters has been serving up the baked goods dreams have been made of for many years. Their pies are some of the best on the market, and we may have been known to indulge in breakfast, lunch, and dinner several days in a row. Fosters classic pastries are also always a good idea, there are vanilla slices, cream pies and donuts and you should definitely have one of everything.

For the love of sourdough, this place is the goods. We are quite fond of sourdough with olives, because olives are life, but there are many varieties, all of which are the perfect complement to a soup warming and/or drizzled with butter. Oh and all of their sourdough is organic and artisanal varieties AND they make amazing cakes like a raspberry and pistachio with honey glaze and a drizzle of honey caramel. Two please.

So many delicious things come out of this lovely place, you guys. Some of the best donuts around, delicious large and very filling delicious pies, croissants, danishes, all the best stuff. There are two Fuel bakery locations so you don’t have to worry about missing anything. And you absolutely don’t want to miss a thing.

Coolangatta Pie Shop
Pies are one of God’s greatest gifts to all of us, especially at 3am after a night of tearing up the dance floor. Conveniently, the iconic Coolangatta Pie Shop is open 24 hours on weekends for literally all your late night/early morning baking needs. It’s one of life’s greatest luxuries right on our doorstep. There are also delicious sweet treats and we recommend the Macadamia Slice stuff because the caramel.

Oh my, there are donuts and they are AMAZIN G. Filled with cream and topped with caramel, we died and went to donut heaven. Nothing else matters. Except there are also pies and they are so good and everything is made fresh on site and by people who care that you are happy with their baked goods. What you will be. Did you know that Mudgeeraba is also a heavenly paradise away from the city that you should definitely visit as soon as possible? Yeah.

Horner of Sorrento
Horner’s was born out of a passion for the smell of freshly baked bread and it’s something we can follow. Their special kind of baked magic comes in the form of artisan breads, ranging from loose pieces to French sticks, and some of the best sweet treats. We are particularly fond of Melting Moments and lemon meringue pie, oh yes. We could eat all of these things every day.

Plant people rejoice, these amazing people make all baked goods without all the gluten, meat, dairy and egg bits. That’s right my friends, it’s a vegan bakery with all the amazing goodies you know and love. Think donuts, cakes, slices, pies, all the most delicious things. We know in good faith (our own) that donuts are absolutely next level and pretty as an Insta pic too.
